Johnny Augustus Shelnut, 73, of Greenville, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Exie James Shelnut.

“Papa John-John” loved his grandchildren and watching racing.

Mr. Shelnut is survived by a daughter, Eddie Posey (Kenneth); a son, Gregory Shelnut; three grandchildren, Travis, Leamber and Nikki Hendricks; four great grandchildren, Zoie, Cholee, Peyten and Brayleigh; and a brother, Marshal Shelnut (Anna).

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

A visitation will be held Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 o’clock noon in the Northwest Chapel.

Burial will be held in Cherry Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Travelers Rest.

In addition to flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
