J. Thomas "Tom" Meehan, 60, of Fountain Inn, died Tuesday, December 3, 2019. Family and friends will never forget his sweet smile and quick sense of humor.
Born in Union, S.C., he was the son of the late Joseph A. Meehan and Margaret "Peggy" C. Meehan.
He graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and was a certified safety professional. In addition to being a Tiger fan (Go Tigers!), he was an avid golfer and a huge dog lover.
A member of the Piedmont Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers in Region VI, he was employed by Alorica of Simpsonville, after serving as director of environmental health and safety for PL Developments and Aaron Industries Inc., a loss prevention specialist for ROSS Stores, a senior safety manager of M3 Risk Solutions, LLC, vice president and safety consultant for Marsh & McLennan Company, Inc., of Greenville, and senior safety consultant for Wausau Insurance Company.
He loved his children above all else and is survived by his son, Joseph "Joe" Meehan, and daughter, Mary "Hannah" Meehan, both of Fountain Inn; the mother of his children, Greta Meehan of Greenville; three sisters, Nancy Meehan of Central, Mary Beth Hill of Gilbert, and Dee Velky of North Augusta; a brother, Jim Meehan of Clemson; beloved in-laws, Shirley and Aaron Bryant of Gainesville, GA; and a number of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
The family will hold a visitation on Saturday, December 14, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast, at 1604 NE Main Street in Simpsonville, SC, followed by a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. in the Southeast chapel.
