Joseph C. Sanda, Jr., 79, of Taylors, husband of Dorothy Carolyn Wiedermann Sanda, passed away Friday, July 6, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital, Downtown.
Born in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of the late Joseph C. Sanda, Sr. and Lillian Tuma Sanda. Mr. Sanda earned his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a chemist at Michelin Tire Corporation. In addition to being a parishioner at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, he was also an extraordinary minister.
Mr. Sanda had multiple hobbies. Joe had a love for tropical fish since the age of 8. As an avid traveler, he camped in all 50 states and visited six continents. He also held ten patents including a puncture sealant for tires. He achieved Eagle Scout status and continued involvement as a merit badge counselor.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 58 years are three daughters, Carolyn S. Mueller (Keith), Susan Kinkade (Greg), and Sharon Bruen (Patrick); five sons, Joseph R. Sanda (Tina), Kevin Sanda, Steven Sanda (Elizabeth), David Sanda (Mary), and John Sanda (Erin); 34 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sanda was preceded in death by five children, Angel, Karen, Frances, Daphne, and Rosalind; and one brother, Phillip Sanda.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 11:00 - 11:50 a.m., with the Funeral Mass beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, located at 1209 Brushy Creek Rd., Taylors, SC 29687.
