Matthew Ryan Kirby, 27, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019. Born in Spartanburg, he was the son of Gregory Kirby (Beth) of Gaffney and Rhonda Spradlin (Ben) of Simpsonville.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by five sisters, Allerie Teasley, Erica Pruitt (Derek), Deanna Kirby, Carson Kirby, and Hannah Marbury; two brothers Gregger Kirby, and Alexander Marbury; one niece Kendall Kirby; three nephews, Eli Bunnell, Gatlin Pruitt, Kaimen Pruitt; maternal grandmother, Judy Alexander (Kirk); and paternal grandmothers, Joyce Braddy, and Sybil Kirby. He also leaves two cousins, Kimberly Bunnell (Mark), and Andrew Garcia (Haley), as well as Aunts, Uncles, and countless friends.
Matt was preceded in death by both paternal grandfathers, Elbert Boone Kirby, and Oliver Braddy.
Matthew was a remarkable son, brother, and friend to all. He graduated Hillcrest High School and attended the University of South Carolina. Each year he couldn’t wait for the start of football season to cheer on his Carolina Gamecocks! Matthew never met a stranger and could light up a room with his infectious smile. He was known for his positive outlook on life and was always ready to lift others up with encouragement. Matthew left us far too soon, but we will cherish the countless memories and the love that he so easily shared with everyone he knew. We find comfort knowing that he is now at peace with Jesus.
