Richard Cambier

Richard L. Cambier, 90, husband of Dena Lewis Cambier, passed away March 31, 2018.

Born in Houtzdale, PA, he was a son of the late John and Mary Cambier.  

Mr. Cambier graduated from Bigler Twp high school in Madera, PA in 1946 and married Dena, his high school sweetheart, in 1950. He was drafted into the Army in 1951 and served in the Korean War earning a Combat Infantryman’s Badge, United Nations Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Korean War Ribbon, and a Korean War Medal before being honorably discharged in 1952. In 1953, Richard and Dena moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he attended Fenn College and worked at Tapco and Ohio Gear where he was the Chief Steward of the UAW Union. In 1960, he became a realtor with C-P-M Realty, Inc. where he served as the General Manager and Vice President for 35 years. In 1968, he was voted Associate Realtor, and Realtor of the Year in 1976. Richard was elected President of Lake County Board of Realtors in 1974 and served on numerous committees for many years. After semi-retirement he became a Broker for Person to Person referral Services, Inc.

   He became a Master Mason in 1965 with Covenant Lodge #727 and later merged with Charles T. Raymer #683 in Euclid, Ohio, and a 32nd Degree Mason with the Valley of Cleveland. Richard also served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Rainbow Girls and is a holder of the Grand Cross of Colors. He also joined the Lyndhurst Masonic Brown Baggers and was elected Man of the Year in 1999.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Sharon Kay Steenson and husband, Ron of Greenville, SC; two grandsons, Richard Steenson, and Matthew Steenson and wife, Melinda, of Clover, SC; and two great-grandchildren, Blake and Mackenzie Steenson.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel. Burial will be in the M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veteran’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd, Greenville, SC 29605; or to the charity of one’s choice.
