Robert Don Tinsley, 87, husband of Linda Owens Tinsley, of Greenville, died Thursday, August 15, 2019.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late James W. and Ernestine Bagwell Tinsley.
Robert served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of Tremont Church of God. He collected model cars and loved T-models, Mercuries, and Thunderbirds.
In addition to his loving wife of 16 years, Robert is survived by a son, Wesley Eugene Tinsley (Janice); two daughters, Malinda Moody (Michael) and Sandra Beattie; three grandchildren, Jonathan (Melissa), Amber, and Brittany (Ryan); four great grandchildren, Savannah, Abigail, Ava, and Aeryn; a half-sister, Carol Oates of Virginia; two half-brothers, Mickey Cochran and Buck Cochran, both of Virginia; and a nephew, Gary Holcombe.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna M. Tinsley.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 19, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Downtown chapel. Burial will be held in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Wheeler, Marsha Green, and the staff at Poinsett Rehab, as well as Palladium Hospice for their loving care.
