Roberta Ramey Brown, 74, wife of Jerry Troy Brown, of Travelers Rest, died Wednesday, November 7, 2018.
Born in Pennington Gap, VA, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Ramey.
Roberta worked with the Greenville Hospital system and was a hairdresser for many years. Roberta was a member of Forestville Baptist Church. She was a talented writer having written columns for newspapers and spiritual publications as well as penning many songs, poems, and stories. She often wrote tributes and poetry that were shared at Memorial Services of family and friends. She was an excellent cook and won many ribbons for her pound cakes at the state fair. She was known as someone who often sat with shut-ins and nursing home patients while singing and reading the bible to them. She was a mother to many and helped raise several of her grandchildren. She had a heart for missions and leaves a long legacy of faith behind her. She will be missed by everyone who called her mama, granny, and friend.
She is survived by two daughters, Sherrie Tapp, Michele Hankey; a son, Jerry Gregory Brown; brother, Johnny Ramey; ten grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a step-mother, Ellon Ramey and grandmother, Rebecca Perkins.
The visitation will be held Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Forestville Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Burial will be held in Forestville Baptist Church Cemetery.
Family will be at the home of grandson, Caleb Brown, 116 McElhaney Road, Travelers Rest.
