Shirley Love Broyles of Simpsonville, SC passed from this earth to heaven on Wednesday, Jan 9, 2019 with family by her side.
She was born in Greeneville Tennessee on Feb 5, 1934 to Lloyd H. Love and Ruby Starnes Love. Her mother died when Shirley was four years old, but she was fortunate to be raised by a loving step-mother, Annie L. Birdwell Love.
Shirley attended University of Tennessee and was a graduate of East Tennessee Baptist School of Nursing. She dedicated her life to nursing and retired from Greenville Memorial Hospital as an Administrative Coordinator in Nursing. When a friend or family member was ill or recovering from surgery, Shirley was always there with a meal, container of soup, or the “Chex Mix” she always made during the holidays. She had a passion for playing bridge at the Simpsonville Senior Center; in fact she would rather miss her own funeral than miss bridge. She loved gardening, especially with friend Nancy Sloan, and had quite the green thumb as whatever she planted flourished. Shirley was a member of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church.
She leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Clifford Eugene Broyles; sons Michael Lloyd Broyles (Gail), Randal Allen Broyles (Sherri); grandchildren Christopher Michael Broyles, Jonathan Cory Broyles (Danielle), Zachary Tyler Broyles (Starr), and Caitlin Olivia Teachey (Chris); six great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Love (Janet); and sister-in-law, Alice Love.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Vesta Love Dobson; and brother, Charles Love.
A visitation will be held Saturday, Jan 12th from 12 noon until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel, officiated by Pastor Patricia Gwinn. There will be a private family burial at Cannon Memorial Park in Fountain Inn.
Shirley requested no flowers, but donations may be made to Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, 739 N. Main Street, Mauldin, SC 29662.
