William “Bill” Edward Canada, Sr., 93, husband of Helen Ruth Bishop Canada, of Greenville, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018.
Born in Seneca, he was a son of the late Henry and Charlotte Hightower Canada.
Bill served in the United States Army during WWII as a munitions worker and retired from the US Postal Service as a mail carrier. He was a member of Fair Heights Baptist Church, now called The Sanctuary Church on Parkins Mill Rd., for many years.
In addition to his loving wife of 72 years, Bill is survived by a daughter, Dianne O’Shields (Terry) of Jonesboro, GA; a son, William Edward “Eddie” Canada, Jr.; three grandchildren, Shannon Probst (Kevin) of LaGrange, GA, Chad Alten O’Shields of Sandersville, GA, and Michael Wayne O’Shields (Hannah) of Kingsville, TX; three great grandchildren, Chase Raley, Kameron Probst, and Mackenzie Probst; two brothers, Joel and Roy Canada; and a sister, Geraldine Boling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Eugene Canada, Sr. and James Canada; and a sister, Ruth Franklin.
A visitation will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown with a funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Downtown chapel. Burial will be held in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
