Charles Gordon Castor, 84, of Greenville, loving husband of Janice Castor, passed away August 27, 2017.
Born in Kannapolis, N.C., he was a son of the late Charles Brown Castor and Alma Rose Kincaid Castor.
Charles was a veteran in the United States Army Intelligence Division and was a retired Finance Manager, who was very good with money. He lived in the Greenville/ Berea area since 1967 and after retiring, one of his favorite things to do was to go to the Pickens Jockey Lot every Wednesday, sometime to sell and sometime to walk and talk. He was an avid collector of great finds he called "Gold Nugget". Charles was a big Clemson fan, only missed a few Clemson vs. Carolina games with his buddy Leon, since 1962. He was a strong man who was a very dedicated and loyal husband and loved family gatherings and cookouts. Charles was a proud grandpa, lovingly called Pepa by his grandchildren. He was a loyal friend and brother who had a good sense of humor and a genuine laugh. His favorite song was "Hey Good Looking" by Hank Williams.
Charles is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janice Jarret Castor; four children, Charles Blake Castor and wife Renee Barker Castor, Jeanne Castor, Keith Castor and his wife Debra Hannon Castor, and Eric Castor; four grandchildren, Jessica Castor, Cameron Castor, Kaitlyn Castor MacLain, and Morgan Castor; and two sisters, Lorna Winslett and Miriam Castor.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest Friday, September 1, 2017. The memorial service will be held Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Michael Lutheran Church.
