Jane K. Kimmey, 94, of Greenville, SC, died Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at her home.
Mrs. Kimmey was born on December 3, 1922 in Albany, New York, daughter of the late Francis and Mary A. Kennedy.
She was a graduate of the Albany Girls' Academy and Wellesley College.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. John Lansing Kimmey, whom she married in 1943. After the war, they lived in New York City, Charlottesville, VA, Lexington, VA, and Columbia, SC before moving to Greenville upon his retirement from the University of South Carolina.
She is also survived by her children, John Lansing Kimmey III (Atlanta), Julia Kimmey Mullen (Greenville, SC), Dr. Gerrit Anthony Kimmey (Huntington, WV), and Jessica Kimmey King (Asheville, NC); in addition to ten grandchildren, Mary Ware, Geoffrey Mullen, Andrea Mullen, Laura Nix, Susannah Bartko, Julia King, Kathleen Sandlin, Sylvia Fulton, Anna Kimmey, and Samantha Kimmey; as well as seven great grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Greenville, SC. She will be buried with her husband when he is deceased at the Elmwood Cemetery, Selkirk, NY. The Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest of Greenville, SC is handling the arrangements.
Jane will be remembered for her gentleness, graciousness, and above all, devotion to her family. When anyone asked her guide to life, she simply said: "Be kind, be kind, be kind."
