Nell Langley Gambrell, 96, widow of Louie Herbert Gambrell, Sr., of Greenville, died Wednesday, December 20, 2017.

Born in Greenville, SC, she was a daughter of the late William Homer and Queen Esther Taylor Langley.

Nell was the longest living member of Earle Street Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Wright and Patricia "Trish" Elrod (Tom); a son, Louie Gambrell, Jr. (Barbara J.); eight grandchildren, James and Andrew Wright, Deborah Guinan, Denise Nicole Suther, Derek and Thomas Elrod, Michelle Fleury, and Louie Gambrell, III; ten great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins who meet every summer to celebrate the Langley family.

In addition to her loving husband and parents, Nell was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas; and six siblings, Louie Langley, Sue Mitchell, Walter Langley, Blanche Taylor, John Langley, and Dot Harper.

The family will receive friends Sunday, December 31, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Earle Street Baptist Church with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Burial will follow at Springwood Cemetery.
