I went to the University of Georgia with Dick and we were good friends, many years later meeting by chance in Greenville. He came to Clemson University where I was teaching and gave a lecture to one of my classes. We lost touch afterwards. I’m sorry to learn so late of his passing. He was a compassionate person, just wish we had visited or been in contact over the years. My condolences to his family.

I am so sorry to hear of Dicks passing. I remember when my husband and I attended our first compassionate friends meeting 2 years ago after losing our son to suicide. Dick was so kind to us and compassionate. I had just mentioned him the other day to my husband , in speaking about child loss and it's never ending journey and how even after years of grief, you never truly recover. Dick never let go of his sons memory and always honored him in his death. Dick, you finally have seen him again now and I know God has his loving arms around you both! Prayers for Margaret and all of Dicks family. " well done my good and faithful servant." Love, Kyle and Jennifer Cothran and family

To Dicks family, I lost my son August 8/2015 and Dick was the first person that reached out to me through The compassionate friends, I thank God for him cause at that point in my grief I was so lost, I felt so alone, he listened as I cried and told him,I didn't think I could get through this, his gentle voice gave me hope that I could and would survive this awful tragedy. Dick always knew what to say, I'm answering the phone for TCF now and I have some big shoes to fill but I will do what Dick taught me to be kind and listen.. Dick you will be missed, I know you and Matt are having a long talk... Margaret my condolences to you and the rest of the family. We loved Dick.. Angie Robey

Margaret and family, our hearts are broken to read about Dick's death. A dedicated Christian man now in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ! Dick was a witness not only to us but to many as we shared our lives in the ERBC family. We are praying for God's comfort and peace to be felt by each of you as you continue to live through these days of mourning. In Christ's Love, Liz and Cliatt Alewine

I would like to say that I am oh so sorry to the family. I remember the first time I met Dick and Margaret . They came down to Georgia to meet there first granddaughter Taryn. I was watching them with Taryn and the love they were showing to her and my other grandchildren was so gentle and the love you could feel. I knew then that I could trust them with my precious granddaughter Taryn. And we all became good trusting friends after that first meeting. They were so kind and loving and always full of fun. He will be surely missed. Dick if you happen to read this go and say hi to Tim. God bless youGeorgina (Gigi) Shea:heart:*
