Bernard Joseph Rogozinski

April 9, 1936 ~ June 22, 2020 (age 84)


Bernard Rogozinski, 84, husband of Shirley Rogozinski, passed away Monday, June 22, 2020.

Born in Waterbury, CT on April 9, 1936, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Rogozinski.

Mr. Rogozinski was a Korean War Veteran having served in the US Air Force as part of a troop carrier squadron and was a tour of duty staff sergeant from 1953 to 1957. During his time in the service, he received several medals including the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal, as well as the Good Conduct Medal. He graduated from the Connecticut School of Electronics and was employed by United Technologies in Windsor Locks, CT. He also worked with MIT graduates in developing the inertial guidance system for NASA’s first flight to the moon.

In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by his sister, Elonor Chizinski; brother, Peter Rogozinski; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel with limited seating available. Burial will be in the MJ “Dolly” Cooper Veteran’s Cemetery. The family appreciates those in attendance following the CDC recommendations on wearing a mask and social distancing.
