Obituary

Carolyn Bates McMahan, 84, beloved wife of the late Charles "Fred" McMahan, died Tuesday, January 12, 2021.

Born in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Maggie Reinheart Bates.

Carolyn was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and a member of the Frances Vaughn Sunday School Class, Ruth Circle and the Mattie Riley Circle.

She is survived by son, Mark McMahan; granddaughters, Michelle Holcombe (Thomas) and Caroline McMahan; great-grandsons, Warren and Cullen Holcombe; nieces, Jama Nation (Scott), and Martha Watson (Al).

In addition to her loving husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Frank McMahan.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family appreciates those attending to follow the CDC guidelines on Social Distancing and wearing a mask.
