Clay Arthur Hultstrand, 26, of Greer, beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 17, 2020, in Greenville.
Born in Columbia on March 25, 1994, to Charles and Katherine Hultstrand, Clay grew up in Greer and graduated from Riverside High School in 2012. Clay graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from USC Upstate in 2019.
Clay was an incredibly compassionate and loving person with a huge servant’s heart. He marched to the beat of his own drum and didn't discriminate or judge anyone, becoming instant friends with all who crossed his path. He loved music, animals, sports, gaming, and history (he was the go-to Hultstrand family historian), and excelled in everything he did. Most of all, he had a strong faith in Jesus and wanted everyone to experience his love.
Clay is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, the Right Reverend Donald and Marjorie Hultstrand, and is survived by his wife, Lauren Hultstrand; his parents, Charles and Katherine Hultstrand; his siblings, Scott (Mary Beth) Hultstrand, Kristi (Mark) Reed, Brooke (Clay) Woody, Andrew (Cara) Hultstrand, and Caroline (Connor) Maser; and his maternal grandparents, Art and Janie Kaple, as well as 21 nieces and nephews, and his uncles, Scott Kaple and Craig (Natalie) Kaple, and aunt, Kathy (Russ) Roux and cousins.
A private service will be held in Greenville on Saturday, May 23.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Clay's honor to the Clay Hultstrand Memorial Fund at the Overcomers Center, Miracle Hill Ministries, PO Box 2546, Greenville, SC 29602 (www.miraclehill.org/give).
