Cole was born in Greenville, SC to Clint and Erin Henderson on April 10, 2018. He was a big boy and a fighter from his birth. At one month old, it was discovered that Cole would need heart surgery to correct a minor heart defect. At just shy of six months old, he swiftly jumped that hurdle. Over the next year and a half, he continued to steal hearts and hand out the best snuggles to all his daycare ladies. As Erin's grandfather tells it, "you just have to see that smile".
A week after Cole's second birthday, it was discovered he had a cancer called neuroblastoma. For the next eleven months, Cole fought like a champion. He battled through five rounds of chemotherapy, one round of nuclear therapy (MiBG), one extremely difficult round of high-dose chemotherapy with stem cell infusion and finally 12 cycles of localized radiation. While the treatments were tough, long and both physically and emotionally draining, he kept that same smile through it all. Just as he did at daycare, he melted the hearts of every doctor, nurse and therapist he met.
