Cornelia Lee Marr, 97, devoted wife of the late Robert Marr, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 22, 2021.
Born in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Marion Whitney and Helen Dudgean Lee.
Trained at Greenville Technical College, Lee was a registered nurse and later received a degree in music from Furman University. She was a charter member of the Greenville Concert Band and also toured in Europe with the American Winds Concert Band. Mrs. Marr served for many years as a church musician and retired as the Director of Music at St. Michaels Lutheran Church in Greenville, SC. Lee was also an active member of St. James Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Sound Team and recorded and edited programs for the ministry to the homebound.
A lifelong golfer, she was a past president and champion of the South Carolina Women's Golf Association and a member of the Furman Golf Club.
She is survived by her niece, Janet Hogle; nephews, Henry Lee Peabody, Lowell Lee Mason Peabody, and Robert C. Stow; and dearest friends, Benjamin Lemmons and his wife, Judy.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lee was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Deborah "Debbie" Marr.
A celebration of Life will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, 301 Piney Mountain Rd. at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 1, 2021, officiated by Father Stephen Roades. All attendees are strongly encouraged to wear masks and follow CDC guidelines on social distancing. Inurnment will take place in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Westfield, MA.
During her stay at the Woodlands, she was most appreciative of the kindness and care given to her by the staff.
