James Richard Burnette

January 15, 1949 ~ March 23, 2020 (age 71)


James"Jimmy" Richard Burnette, 71,of Easley, died Monday, March 23, 2020.

Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late James Alvin and Ruby Jameson Burnette.

Jimmy served in the United States Air Force. After retirement of thirty years of military service, Jimmy joined the staff of The Easley Progress. On staff, he continued to distinguish himself as a professional photo journalist. While working with The Progress, a very close relationship developed between Jimmy and the owners, Jerry and Beverly as well as their black lab, COCO. Each morning, Jimmy would treat COCO to a Bojangles sausage biscuit. The friendship lasted through the rest of Jimmy's life with the Vickery's providing total care fo the last four years of his life along with the kind and professional staff at Brookdale, now Easley Place care facility.

The Vickery's would like to thank each member of the Easley Place staff for their many acts of kindness as well as Regency Southern Care Hospice.

He is survived by a brother, Michael Burnette; and close friends, Jerry and Beverly Vickery.

A private entombment will be held in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Easley High School, 154 Green Wave Blvd, Easley, SC 29642.
