James Thomas "Jim" Williams, Sr., 81, husband of Agnes Wallace Williams, died Tuesday, April 6, 2021.
Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Marc and Virginia Bryson Williams.
Jim was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greenville, SC, and served as an ordained Elder and Deacon of the church. He was also a Youth Advisor, Sunday School Teacher and Missions Committee member. He was active in Hurricane Katrina Relief efforts in Ocean Springs, Mississippi and the restoration of Mattoon Presbyterian Church in Greenville.
A member of the Downtown Rotary Club for many years, Jim was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship and served as co-chairman of the Singing Christmas Tree. He was also a member of the St. Andrews Society and the Greenville Optimist Club. Jim also received multiple awards from the American Office Products Dealers Association. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served his country.
In addition to his loving wife, Jim is survived by a son, James Thomas Williams, Jr., and wife, Betsy; daughter, Elizabeth Williams Weatherford and husband, David; grandchildren, Anna Pierson Williams, James Thomas Williams III, Lillie Weatherford Hewitt and husband, Andy, and David Grayson Weatherford; brother, Charles Williams and wife, Maria Williams, and a niece, Kim Kittle.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 10, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Greenville, SC, with the funeral service following at 2:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary. A private committal service will be held at Nazareth Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Moore, SC. All attendees are strongly encouraged to wear masks and follow CDC guidelines on social distancing.
