Obituary

Loretta Mae Runyen, born to Richard and Mae Tyler on August 14, 1939, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2021.

Loretta was a humble and compassionate woman of God and a powerful example of loving others above yourself. She and her husband were affectionately referred to as “the Wormies” when they volunteered in their daughter’s classroom. She was an active church and choir member in every church she attended and enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends. Loretta was a gracious friend to so many and always had a smile for everyone.

There are no words adequate enough to fully capture the amount of love Loretta poured into this world, as she meant so much to so many and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Loretta was lovingly devoted to her soulmate, Hale, for 61 years. She was an adoring mother to her two children, Darrell Runyen and his wife, Becky, and Darlene Sabelhaus and her husband, Jim, whom she cherished more than anything in the world. Loretta was the proudest “MomMom” to Melissa, Katelyn and her husband, Ray, Kyle and his wife, Kaitlin, and Ryan and his fiancee', Ana and an even prouder “Great MomMom” to Brooklyn, Angel, Samantha, Carlos Jr., Jaxon, Cali, and Kathyrn. She is also survived by her brother, Tommy Tyler and his wife, Dorothy.

A Private Memorial Service will be held at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Simpsonville, 3 Hedge Street, Simpsonville, SC 29681.
