Louis “Lou” Hradek Jr., or as many knew him, “Lantana Lou” passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021, at the age of 74.

Born in White Plains, NY, he was adopted by his loving parents, the late Martin and Eva Carr.

Mr. Hradek served his country as a member of the United States Army. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with two bronze stars.

After his discharge, he moved to sunny Florida where he met and married the love of his life, Paula Kukuk. He worked for Palm Beach County for 27 years before retiring to the upstate of South Carolina in 2005 to be closer to his grandchildren. Lou was a loving husband, a caring father, and a dear grandfather, AKA "Papa Lou". Many of his grandchildren remember him walking them to the park and being pushed on the swings for hours and hours. He was a generous friend and neighbor. After work, he would go to the homes of his elderly neighbors and cut their lawns or help out with chores. He loved dogs, especially his, and being outdoors working in his garden. However, his favorite place was the beach.

His memory lives on with his wife of 50 years, Paula; his sister, Millie Hradek of New York; three loving daughters, Melissa Hradek, Amanda Kuykendall and her husband, Charles of Taylors, and Lou Ann Seppala and her husband, Josiah of Greer; five precious grandchildren, Bryce Seppala and his wife, Lexi of Taylors, Priscilla and Emma Seppala both of Greer, Ethan Hradek and Dylan Kuykendall both of Taylors; two adoring great- grandchildren, Rory and Kapri Seppala both of Taylors; his furry children, Gizmo and Roman; and the late Spanky.

A memorial service to celebrate Lou's life will be held with Military Honors at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lou's memory to Hospice Foundation of America, 1707 L Street, Suite 220, Washington DC 20036 or online by visiting http://donate.givedirect.org.
