Margaret Ann (Kidd) Romine

May 18, 1940 ~ January 10, 2021 (age 80)

Obituary

Margaret Ann Romine, 80, of Taylors, beloved wife of the late Michael Lee Romine, entered her eternal rest on Sunday, January 10, 2021.

Daughter of Martha Bernice (Osborne) Kidd and the late George Franklin Kidd, Margaret was born on May 18, 1940 in Vonore, Tennessee. During her early teens, Margaret's family settled in Aiken, South Carolina where she graduated from Aiken High School.

While stationed at Aiken Air Force Station, Michael Romine met and fell in love with Margaret Kidd. The young couple married later that year and was blessed with two children. Margaret was a devoted wife and homemaker who put the needs of her family above her own.

After Michael's unexpected passing on Dec. 9, 1976, Margaret reentered the workforce as a single mother determined to provide for her family. She began working as a secretary in the special education department for the Greenville County School District, where she remained until retirement.

Margaret possessed a strong, independent spirit and invested her time and energy in helping others and sharing her gifts. Although she never remarried, Margaret was full of love for her family and friends. At eighty years young, she was grateful to have the ability to continue to care for her mother.

Margaret was a longtime member of Edwards Road Baptist Church who actively participated in her faith. She wanted to contribute and was a valued member of her church family who volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program and the children's program- The Good News Club. Over the years Margaret routinely taught Sunday School classes and Vacation Bible School programs. In her later years, she was a prayer warrior and encourager to many in her church. She was a generous soul who loved to share what she had with others. Her grandchildren will miss her loving and warm personality and especially her "Nana bags," treasure gift bags filled with simple gifts from the heart.

Those left to treasure her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Katharine "Kathy" and Bret Wyant of Greenville; mother, Martha Kidd of Aiken; five grandchildren, Meghan Hann and her husband Stephen, Emily Vaughn and her husband Joey, Hayden Romine and his wife Katelyn, Anna Grace Romine, and Michael A. Wyant; a brother, Ben Kidd and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves two brothers-in-law, Fred Romine and Bill Romine.

In addition to her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Romine; a sister, Brenda Redd; and a brother, Scott Kidd.

Her funeral service will be held Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Edwards Road Baptist Church, 1050 Edwards Rd., Greenville with private burial following in Woodlawn Memorial Park. In honoring Margaret's wishes, her casket will be closed in the church and there will be no public viewing. Due to the pandemic, there will be no visitation prior to the service and those attending are encouraged to wear masks and observe the social distancing recommendations of the CDC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Edwards Road Baptist Church Mission Fund.

Friends are encouraged to leave condolence messages for the family on the "Tribute Wall" tab above.
