Patricia Anne Leibold passed away on June 20th, 2020, in Travelers Rest, South Carolina.
Born January 4, 1942, in Flushing, NY, Pat was the daughter of John J. Toomey and Mary E. Toomey.
Pat was raised in Pittsburgh, PA, where she met John during high school, and they began a love story that would last for over sixty years and take them around the world. Pat and John raised their four children mainly in Mendham, NJ, where they lived for almost forty years. The family also lived in the Philippines and the Netherlands for long assignments. They retired to the Cliffs Community in Travelers Rest in 2009.
Pat attended Duquesne University and then became a 3rd grade teacher. Pat later became an executive assistant at AT&T. Eventually, she was able to follow her passion and share her talents by establishing her own interior design business. She took the most pride, however, in being a mother to her four children — a role she performed beautifully with grace and humor. As the parent of a son with Williams Syndrome during a time when special education was inadequate, Pat was a fierce advocate for children with special needs.
Pat maintained a strong faith throughout her life. She was blessed with a quick and generous laugh, and she was prone to break into an Irish jig whenever music was played. Pat also enjoyed singing with her community group The Cliff Notes. She loved family, friends, dance, travel, golf, and an occasional glass of Chardonnay, though no one is entirely sure in what order. Quick with a compliment, Patʼs preferred greeting was “Hello, Gorgeous!” She had a unique ability to make her family and friends feel appreciated, heard, and loved. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, John W. Leibold; three of their four children, Laura Honnold (Scott) of Hudson, OH; Scott Leibold (Alex) of Atlanta, Georgia; and Greg Leibold (Debbie) of Littleton,CO; six grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Nick, Jack, Taylor, and Christy; her brother, Neil Toomey (Kathy) of Bridgeville, PA; and her sister, Peggy Quatman (Bob) of Glenshaw, PA.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jeff, with whom she is undoubtedly sharing a long overdue hug in heaven.
Pat will be laid to rest in Pittsburgh. Due to current circumstances, there will be no visitation or funeral services at this time. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to local chapters of the Alzheimerʼs Association would be greatly appreciated.
