Robert “Kim” Pitts, 62, devoted husband of 42 years to Kimberly Pitts, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021.
Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of Mary Alice Bowen and the late James Pitts.
Kim was the owner and operator of Pitts Truck Service. The business has been serving the Greenville community’s diesel truck needs since 1968.
Kim met Kim while cruisin’ up Main Street, and after two years of dating, he married the love of his life on April 25, 1979. A short time later they welcomed their son Rob, and Kim filled the role of “the cool dad”.
Kim enjoyed drag racing and to this day, some of his records have yet to be broken. A lover of rebuilding classic cars, especially Corvette’s, he built everything in each car with the exception of the upholstery. He also liked to cheer on the Clemson Tigers.
In addition to his mother and his wife, Kim’s funny and sarcastic sense of humor will live on with his son, Robert Pitts; two sisters, Judy Pulido, and Buffy Whitaker; his two fur babies, Phoebe and Penelope Pitts; and too many friends and others to name.
A public viewing will be held Monday, May 3, 2021 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown followed by the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel. A private entombment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Masks are required in all Thomas McAfee Funeral Home locations and attendees are strongly encouraged to follow CDC guidelines on social distancing.
Kim always said, “life is like a rubber ball, the harder you hit the ground, the higher you will bounce, don’t let someone bring you down”. He was an inspiration to all that knew him.
