Ruth June Burdette, 93, beloved wife of the late John Thomas Burdette, peacefully passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021.
Born in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late James and Maggie Adams Mardis.
She attended Greenville High School and married in 1946. She was a devoted wife and mother who took great pride in her home and even taught her son to clean house. She was a working mom at a time when many stayed at home and retired from Palmetto Box Company in 1988 after forty years of service.
Mrs. Burdette was a devoted member of Crosswell First Baptist Church.
She is survived by dear son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Edythe Burdette of Taylors and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her granddog, Bailey.
In addition to her husband John, Ruth was preceded in death by her siblings, James Mardis, Chick Mardis, Lewis Mardis, Benjamin Mardis, Jack Mardis, Mary Mardis Center, Pauline Mardis Motes, and Clara Belle Mardis Durham.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Due to the pandemic there will be no public visitation or viewing prior to the service.
