Vernon Charles Case, 86, of Greenville, husband of 64 1/2 years to the late Dorothy (Dot) Case, and father to their only child, Darlene Case Georgiades and loving son-in-law, Pete Georgiades, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020. He passed away only 20 days after the love of his life.
Born in Drayton (Spartanburg County), he was the son of the late Nina Mae Frady McGraw and William Henry Case.
Mr. Case served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
At a young age, Vernon was taught shoe repair that served him well throughout his life. He and his wife, Dot owned and operated Case Quality Shoes and Fixery in West Greenville. He retired at 78 years of age after a 43 year career. He was active in beginning the West Greenville Business Association.
In his spare time, he enjoyed exercising, eating out, car racing, rocking in his rocking chair and reading - especially on vitamins and nutrition. Vernon will be remembered as a quiet, hardworking, sensitive, gentle, honest and compassionate man.
In addition to his daughter and son-in-law, he is survived by a brother, Earl Case; two daughters from a previous marriage, Betty Morgan and Jackie Campbell; grandchildren, Casey Georgiades Bolding (Brian), Carly Georgiades Carter (Patrick), Krystal Parsons Williams (Scott), Trey Campbell and Clark Ramsey (Tina).
In addition to his loving wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter from a previous marriage, Janet Ramsey; a sister, Katherine Boyer; brothers, James Case and Bennie McGraw.
A visitation will be held Sunday, February 16, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest with the Funeral Service following at 1:30 p.m.in the Northwest Chapel. Entombment will be held in Graceland West Cemetery.
