Walter Edward “Ed” Sayers, Jr., 68, of Greenville, died peacefully Thursday, November 12, 2020.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Walter and Earline Cunningham Sayers.
He was a graduate of Parker High School and Clemson University where he received his Masters Degree. He was an avid Clemson Tiger fan. Ed loved music, the beach and sports. He was a dedicated “herd and tribe” member of the band, Donna the Buffalo. He was the happiest spending time with his family and his herd family. His bright smile and big heart was always present, and he was always the teacher having taught mathematics at Wade Hampton High School for 35 years.
Other than his love of live music, he would prioritize his schedule to attend his friends kids sporting events and endured dozens of swim meets and long days of travel baseball. One of the children's most cherish gifts, was when Ed calculated an extremely detailed batting statistics on his high school baseball season.
He is survived by a sister, Jeannie Ferguson (Gary); nieces Scottie Ferguson and Regina Fowler (Forrest); two great nephews, Joshua and Caleb Fowler.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
