Professional Session – September 17, 2021

Making Sense of the Senseless: Spiritual Care in an Uncertain World

September 17, 2021 | 8:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Registration 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

All caregiving professionals know well the importance of assessing for the importance of faith community involvement in a dying or bereaved individual’s experience. Where we become unsure is in how to proceed with the information we discover. What are the big questions people face related to death, loss, and grief? Can I really engage in spiritual conversations with clients/patients when I am not a chaplain? How can I help individuals find a pathway to spiritual discovery without “proselytizing?”

Join us as we learn together about how to help our patients and clients make sense of the senseless when the world is so uncertain.

Objectives. At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to…

  • Describe the key components of appropriate spiritual care
  • Outline the role of spiritual care professionals and the limits to the interventions of other professionals and volunteers
