Bennett Hudson

Bennett Easterlin Hudson, 86, of The Cascades, formerly Woodvale Ave., died Sunday, October 21, 2012. He was the widower of Flora Sherman Hudson. Born in Augusta, Georgia, he was the son of the late Joel Earl Hudson and Lucille Easterlin Hudson. Mr. Hudson was a WWII US Navy Veteran, a graduate of Clemson University and a lifelong member of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church. Following his retirement as an executive of Dan River Mills, he enjoyed a second career as a real estate broker with Coldwell Banker Caine. He was a member of the Greenville Country Club, the Poinsett Club, The Cotillion, and the Poinsett Investment Club. Surviving are his children, Virginia Hudson McLean, and husband, A.A McLean III, of Greenville, Jane Hudson Brice, of Greenville, Robert Sherman Hudson, and wife, Lilie S. Hudson, of Columbia, Susan Hudson Morris, and husband, Edwin C. Morris, of St. Matthews; grandchildren, Alex McLean, and wife, Kelly, Beth McLean, Ben McLean, Philip Brice, Brantley Brice, Lilie Jane Hudson, Jeff Morris, and Katherine Morris. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bennett Easterlin Hudson, Jr., and two brothers, Joel Earl Hudson, Jr., and John Walton Hudson. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2012 in the Parlor of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family wishes to express grateful appreciation to the staff, care givers, and friends at The Cascades. The family will be at the home of his daughter, Ginger McLean, 342 E. Parkins Mill Road, Greenville, SC 29607.
