Carl Johnson, DDS, died Friday, June 26, 2009. Dr. Johnson was the husband of Karen Delp Johnson and the son of the late Cecil Carl, Sr., and Jewel Clark Johnson. He a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry and was retired from the private practice of dentistry in Greenwood. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a sister, Linda Jewel Sigmon and her husband, Mike of Gastonia, NC; a step-son, Cliffty Yoakum of Simpsonville; a niece, Katrina Wiser of Texas; and two canine companions, Roy and Leola. Visitation will be held from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2009 in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lander University, 320 Stanley Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29649-2099.
