Cecelia Ely

Cecelia Boggan Ely, 90, widow of Joel Richard Ely, died Saturday, May 2, 2009, at McCall Hospice House. She was a resident at Rolling Green Village. Born in Birmingham, AL, she was the daughter of the late James Joseph and Bridget Anne Scully Boggan. Mrs. Ely was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and William Reynolds of Greenville, SC, and a son and daughter-in-law, Joel Richard Ely, Jr. and Donna J. Pilkington of Providence, RI; five grandchildren, Joel Pilkington Ely, Donald Pilkington Ely, Zachary William Reynolds, Elizabeth Grace Reynolds and Mary Katherine Reynolds; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ely was predeceased by four sisters and six brothers, of Birmingham, AL, and Dallas, TX. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at 10:00 am at Rolling Green Village, with visitation immediately following the service. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 7, 2009, at 10:00 am at St. Jude Catholic Church in Sumter, SC. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in Sumter, SC. A visitation will be held at Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home in Sumter, SC, Wednesday, May 6, 2009, from 5 pm until 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shrine of the Blessed Sacrament, 3222 County Road 548, Hanceville, AL 35077. The family will be at the home of Yvonne Reynolds, 6 Cape Charles Drive, Greenville, SC.
