Earle ?Bud? Clarke Proffitt, 77, passed away July 12, 2005. A native of Asheville, N. C., he was a son of the late Gordan and Mary Proffitt. Earle moved to Greenville in 1948 and was a member of the Greenville Fire Department before joining WFBC-TV as a news photographer in the early 1960?s. He retired from Graham Photo Company after thirty-five years of service. He was a member of the Civitan Club and served on the Civil Service Commission. Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Dorothy Alexander Proffitt of the home; two daughters: Janet Hall and her husband Steve; and Linda Sampere and her husband Richard, all of Greenville; two sons: Eric Proffitt and his fiancé Lynn of Townville; and Sandy Proffitt of Boiling Springs; two granddaughters: Amber and Courtney; and a sister, Dorothy Lawless of Norfolk, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cancer Society of Greenville County, 113 Mills Avenue, Greenville SC 29605. Visitation will be 12:00 ? 1:15 p.m. Friday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, with funeral services following in the Chapel at 1:30 p.m. with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
