Goldie Pickens

Goldie B. Pickens, 85, of 35 Southpointe Drive, widow of Sterling M. Pickens, died May 24, 2005 at Magnolia Place. Born in Clay County, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Okey and Amy King Ramsey. Mrs. Pickens retired as a housekeeper with Montgomery General Hospital after fifteen years of service and was a member of Deepwater Baptist Church in Deepwater, West Virginia. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Brown and her husband, James, Mrs. Becky Gravely and her husband, John all of Taylors; two sons, Mr. Sterling M. Pickens and his wife Naomi, of Demotte, IN, Mr. Ernie Pickens and his wife, Donna, of Florence, KY; three sisters, Mrs. Lucy R. Davis of Deepwater, WV, Miss Ruth Ramsey of Smithers, WV and Mrs. Silvia Epperson of Louisville, KY; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Pickens was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Brenda P. Denys; and two brothers, Freeman and Grant Ramsey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Heart Association, 310-B Bennett Center Drive, Greer, SC 29650. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2005 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Services will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2005 at 10:30 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Kanawha Valley Memorial Park in Glasgow, WV. The family will be at the home of a daughter, Margaret Brown.
