Grace Burgess

Grace Jones Burgess, 84, of Greenville, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010. Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Marie Lamb Jones. Mrs. Burgess retired from Norris Manufacturer and attended Calvary First Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Roper, Margaret Turner Ken and Edna Cagle Kenneth; three sons, Donald Berry Burgess Iris, Wayne Burgess and Eddie Burgess Elaine; two sisters, Dorothy Mae Burgess and Doris Jones; a brother John Jones; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Burgess was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Berry Lee Burgess; two brothers, Paul and Elijah Jones and a daughter, Shirley Burgess. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 1, 2011 from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The Funeral Service will be held Sunday, January 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greenville Humane Society, 328 Furman Hall Road, Greenville, SC 29609.
