Helen Nimmons

November 16, 1922 - August 18, 2012
Helen Nimmons, 89, of 101 Dundee Lane, widower of Jack Harold Nimmons, Sr., died Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospial. Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late James Leonard and Martha Ellen Lollis Owings. Mrs. Nimmons retired in 1978 as an officer of the Greenville City Police Department, and owned, with her husband, Nimmons Oil Company. She was a member of Cherrydale Place Baptist Church where she was actively involved. She was a member of Woodmen of the World. Surviving are three daughters, Joette Graves, Lois Bryant and Delores Nimmons, and a son, Jack Harold Nimmons, Jr., eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one grandchild, one great-grandchild, one great-great-grandchild, one brother, and two sisters. Visitation will be held Monday, August 20, 2012 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August, 21, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Burial will follow in Graceland West Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cherrydale Place Baptist Church, 2300 Old Buncombe Rd., Greenville, SC 29609, or American Diabetes Association, 701 Grove Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
