Iona Brown

November 30, 1936 - October 25, 2014
Iona L. Brown, 77, loving wife of 61 years to John D. Brown, of Greenville, died Saturday, October 25, 2014. Iona was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was lovingly known as the "card lady." She was an avid donator to various charities and loved sewing, cooking, and cross-stich along with many other crafts. Along with her husband, Mrs. Brown is survived by her children: Betty Lim Bill, Paula Smith, Pam Fruchey Randy, Mark Brown Rhonda, Beth Hawthorne Rodger, Matthew Brown Deborah, and Trina Joy Brown; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Black; brother, Larry Trueblood; and aunt, June Schneider. She is preceded in death by her mother Lucille Shidler Trueblood. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 1:15 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Tabernacle Children's Home, 3931 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29611. The family will be at the residence. Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.
