Major Harvell

July 9, 1912 - November 4, 2012
Major Harvell, 100, died Sunday, November 4, 2012. Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late John Lewis and Lillie Savannah Hudson Harvell. Mr. Harvell was retired from Dunean Mill and was a member of Conestee First Baptist Church. Surviving are three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Harvell and Frank Harvell both of Greenville; a daughter-in-law, Jane Harvell; and a stepdaughter, Brenda Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Hewitt Harvell; his second wife, Alice Harvell; a son, Don L. Harvell; seven brothers; and three sisters. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown with the funeral service following at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Conestee First Baptist Church, 145 2nd Street, Conestee, SC 29636. The family will be at their respective homes.
