Norma Marke

Norma Marke of Greenville, South Carolina passed away on April 1, 2012 at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, South Carolina. She was 90 years old. Born in Newark, New Jersey, Norma was the daughter of the late Samuel and Tilly Baum. Survivors include her husband, Milton Marke, her son and daughter-in-law, David and Jessica Marke, her beloved grandchildren, Jacob Marke and Joshua Marke, her sister, Ruth Buynoski and her brother-in-law Raymond Markowitz. Happiest outdoors enjoying the fresh air, Norma loved spending time with family with whom she cared for and loved very much. Norma had an enormous enthusiasm for sports. She played tennis, golf and enjoyed swimming until she was 90 years old. She seldom missed watching a sporting event in which her grandchildren participated. Norma was never one to shy away from a spirited political discussion or a good game of bridge. Norma was a very honest, straightforward person who was always eager to help those in need and made a lasting impression on those who got to know her. Norma was very grateful to all the people who helped her throughout the years to be able to enjoy what she loved to do. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Temple of Israel, 400 Spring Forest Road Greenville, SC 29615 or to the McCall Hospice House, 1836 West Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680. A graveside services will be held at Beth Israel Cemetery on Tuesday April 3, 2012 at 1pm.
