Reverend Robert "Bob" Lawrence, 87, of Greenville, husband of Dani Clark Lawrence, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012. Born in Montgomery, AL, he was a son of the late Bill and Margaret McCormack Lawrence. Bob served in the 8th Air Force as a waist gunner on a B17 bomber during WWII. He graduated from Sidney Lanier High School, Auburn University and Columbia Theological Seminary. He served churches in Alexander City, AL, Meridian, MS, Jackson, MS, Anchorage, KY and Fourth Presbyterian Church in Greenville. Bob was active in community theatre and served on several civic boards. He enjoyed backpacking, sailing, gardening and biking. Bob Lawrence was a wonderful man. He was greatly loved by his family and all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all, but never forgotten. He touched people from all walks of life. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Margaret Lawrence and husband, Mike Suttles, of Louisville, KY and Sharon Mellon and husband, Tom, of Simpsonville; sons, Rob Lawrence and wife, Gwen, of Duluth, GA and Gary Brown and wife, Angie, of Simpsonville; grandchildren, Amelia Pape, Ian Pape, Katie Suttles, Kristin Berggoetz, Sarah Mellon, Jesse Mellon, Will Lawrence, Addie Lawrence, Meredith Lawrence, LeeAnn Lawrence, Gary A. Brown and Michael W. Brown; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. A memorial service will be held at Fourth Presbyterian Church Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of his life in the church's Fellowship Hall. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
