Robert Coggins, Sr

Robert Coggins, Sr., 77, of Greenville, husband of Jean Dill Coggins, died Wednesday, January 4, 2012. Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Haskel "Hack" and Annie Mae Tripp Coggins. Mr. Coggins served in the US Army as a Military Policeman and was honored as Solider of the Month. He retired from JP Stevens, Slater Plant and graduated from Tabernacle Baptist College with a Theology Graduate degree. He was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church where he was a member of the Auditorium Sunday School Class. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Robert L. "Robby" Coggins, Jr., Cheryl Jordan, Cindy Scott, Cathy Sawyer, Roger Coggins, and Christy Hutchinson; fifteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; and two brothers, Wilton Haskel "Junior" and Edward "Bootsie" Coggins. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 7, 2012 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Parkwood Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be Sunday, January 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Greenville Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society of Greenville County, 113 Mills Avenue, Greenville, SC 29605 or Open Arms Hospice, 1836 West Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680. The family will be at the residence.
