Walter Boykin

August 22, 1913 - July 28, 2012
Walter Boykin, 98, of Greenville, SC, formerly of Cary, NC, husband of Gladys Elizabeth Richardson Boykin, died Saturday, July 28, 2012. Born in Johnston County, NC, he was the son of the late William Millard and Sarah Catherine Creech Boykin. He was a member of Missionary Baptist Church in Micro, NC. Mr. Boykin loved being a mechanic and later became owner and operator of a service station. In addition, he enjoyed reading historical books and novels and watching and listening to Lawrence Welk. Surviving in addition to his wife of 68 years are two daughters, Sandra Boykin Cothran and husband Doug and Catherine Ann Boykin, all of Greenville; son, Walter Franklin Boykin of Willow Springs, NC; five grandchildren, Marinda Stone, Gary Weaver, and Jennifer, Douglas, and Mary Nell Boykin; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Hazel Ashcraft of Clearwater, Fla. Mr. Boykin was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters. Private services will be held at a later date in Micro, NC. -Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest
