William Earl Hamby

William Earl "Dooby" Hamby, 81, of Countryside Village, Easley, died Saturday, November 21, 2009. Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Ralph L. and Bonnie Ballew Hamby. Mr. Hamby was a graduate of Parker High School Class of 1947. He was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church. Prior to his retirement, he was a Superintendant with Stellar Group Construction in Jacksonville, Fla. Surviving are three sons, Richard Hamby, Lee Hamby and wife Claudia, and Bill Hamby; two brothers, Ralph Hamby, Jr. and wife Nancy and Jerry Hamby; two sisters, Betty Bagwell and husband Wilton, all of Greenville and Joan Thomas and husband Glen of Simpsonville; and four grandchildren, Sofía Margarita, Laura and John. Mr. Hamby was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline Hamby. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 3:00 pm in The Remembrance Chapel of Woodlawn Memorial Park, with visitation prior from 2:00 pm until 2:45 pm.
